Students Get A Taste of Official ‘Southern Hospitality’

Students in Gwinnett Tech’s Hotel Restaurant and Tourism Management program recently loaded up for a bus tour of Atlanta’s bustling hospitality sector.

The trip gave these budding hospitality pros a look into the day-to-day operations of some of the city’s busiest destinations while offering a hands-on approach to the  field these students hope to be working in soon.

“Our laboratory really is the hotels [and] the restaurants,” says Dr. Mark Newton, GTC program director. “So what we try to do is get out of the classroom and make students aware of all the different opportunities there are in Atlanta.”

From interview tips to real-world job contacts, each student in attendance was able to bring home a wealth of knowledge to help them land jobs in the industry.

GTC TV News was also along for the ride to bring you this special report of the day’s activities.
